One Valuable Step Ahead

One Valuable Step Ahead

We have discussed future collaborations on biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization with Regional States. These partnerships are crucial for advancing our shared biodiversity goals.

The whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework recognizes such collaborations as the foundation for efficient and effective alignment in biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization.

The Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute (EBI) has established seven Biodiversity Centers, two botanic gardens, and one duplicate gene bank across the country's representative agro-ecological zones. This provides an excellent opportunity to work with Regional States on joint biodiversity action planning, capacity building, and knowledge transfer.

During our key meeting with Regional States in Addis Ababa, we agreed to designate focal institutions and focal persons in every Regional State. This will ensure smooth and efficient information exchange, strengthening our collective efforts.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in our 50-year journey toward a future where Ethiopia's biodiversity is properly conserved and sustainably utilized.

EBI highly acknowledges the Ministry of Agriculture - Ethiopia for its pivotal role in engaging Regional States and fostering collaborative efforts in biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization.
