The Regional Workshop on Knowledge Management for Biodiversity in African countries took place in Addis Ababa from July 21-24, 2025.

The workshop was jointly organized by UNEP, UNDP, IUCN, and SCBD. It was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from Monday, July 21 to Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The welcoming speech was given by Dr. Karta Kaske, Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute. He welcomed participants to the vibrant city of Addis Ababa and encouraged them to explore its tourist destinations.

Ms. Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the CBD, officially opened the workshop and expressed gratitude to the people of Ethiopia and the organizers.

Mr. Mathias Naab, Director of the UNDP Regional Service Center for Africa, also delivered a message at the workshop.

The workshop served as a starting point for building a community, sharing knowledge, and identifying areas for urgent action.
